Early one morning in the face-me-I -face-you house I stayed as a corp member, I wanted to perform ablution for Subh (morning) prayer. Proceeding outside, I just closed the door without thinking twice.
As I finished the ablution, I realized that I had locked myself out as the door automatically closes if not left a bit open. To make matters worse, my roommate was not around and its very rare for my neighbours to be awake at that time, especially since schools were on holiday.
I must confess that I stayed outside for more than thirty minutes before one of my neighbours finally woke up and came out to open the door.
This incident became a revelation as to various questions like “What if there was no one at home? What if it was a door of opportunity I had closed that way? What if the door didnt open again? I must confess that since then, I have been wary of how I close any door.
Now ask yourself, What if there is a need to use the door you banged while going out? What if you just shut yourself out of opportunities just because you closed that door too hard?
Be careful when breaking ties with people. Some relationships arent meant to be cut off completely. Take a bit of time to think and analyse the situation before concluding to shut people or even things out of your life.
Close that door with the probability of passing through it again. If ever there is a need to close that door, then be sure to leave it a bit ajar.
Remember, close that door in a way you will not regret… Try to talk things out. Analyze the situation. Negotiate if it has to do with business. You will be suprised how much better things will be. Never ever cut off a rope you can untie.
How do you close your doors and have you ever closed a door so hard that you later regretted it or softly that you had to go in back? Share your story with me in the comment box below! Gracias!!!
